Intro To Pediatrics

Last Friday, we met with a prospective pediatrician for the boy, Dr. Bebe Han. Bebe/Dr. Han/Dr. Bebe Han ended up interviewing us after-hours for about 30 minutes on topics ranging from stay-at-home parenting to circumcision. In addressing the latter topic, he used an ordinary pen as a demonstrative exhibit. He's from Taiwan, but has been in New Mexico for 35 years. He can be a little difficult to understand at times. But that's part of the fun. Moreover, Bebe is the first doctor we've met in the past nine months who seemed genuinely interested in us and the welfare of our looming child. So, we're pretty psyched on Bebe!

The Cat Butt

It's 9:00 p.m. and I've spent the last ten minutes trying to photograph Katherine's bellybutton. She's bathed in the long shadows of our living room and the camera simply cannot capture the splendid nuances of the "cat butt." I'm giving up this fool's errand until sunrise. I watched with hushed awe for the first several months of her pregnancy as her navel transformed itself into the "cat butt." At some point, I was unable to restrain myself and pointed out the uncanny resemblance. Now we both gawk at the sanddollar-like portal between us and the expanding little critter whose elbow or posterior rises out of her side every few minutes.
